Commonly Asked Questions

Eye Exams

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I GET MY EYE TESTED?

We recommend having an eye exam every 18 months to 2 years. The optometrist will advise you if more frequent  visits are required.

WHAT DOES AN EYE TEST INVOLVE AND WHAT DO YOU TEST FOR?

During our comprehensive eye exam, your vision will be checked using a number of tests that will determine your  eye health and whether prescription eyewear is required. The optometrist will also ask your age, occupation, general health and family history of diseases such as glaucoma, diabetes and heart disease. From these findings our optometrist can recommend the best options for you.

Driving Tests

WHAT DOES A DRIVING TEST INVOLVE?
Our Driving tests are less comprehensive than a full eye test and will determine whether prescription eyewear is required for driving or not. If corrective eyewear is found to be required for driving, we would then recommend having a full comprehensive eye test.

Contact Lens Test and Fitting

WHAT DOES A CONTACT LENS TEST AND FITTING INVOLVE?
If you are trying contact lens for the first time, our contact lens fitting will involve a comprehensive eye test, fitting (the optometrist will show you how to put in and take out lenses), cleaning and storing, trial contact lenses and follow up appointments until you are comfortable and ready to order.

WHAT ARE THE BEST CONTACT LENSES FOR ME?
Dailies, Fortnightly, Monthly, Coloured... there are many different types of contact lenses available and our optometrist will help determine which ones are best for you based on your needs, lifestyle and budget.

Sunglasses With Prescription Lenses

WHAT ARE PRESCRIPTION SUNGLASSES AND WHAT ARE THE ADVANTAGES?
Prescription sunglasses are sunglasses that have been fitted with prescription lenses. A convenient option for prescription eyewearers - no clip-ons or magnetic sun lenses to attach. Also ideal for contact lens wearers who do not like wearing their lenses at the beach or in windy and dusty
conditions.

Most sunglasses can be fitted with your prescription and we have a range of lens options to choose from - Tinted, Polarised, Transition (clear indoors and go dark outside) and also Multifocal options. Come in and talk to us about what we can do for you.
